Part of the quartz family, Citrine is named after the French word for 'lemon' (citron). Despite this, citrine tends to be much more golden; a wonderful sunny, optimistic colour. The material I have is a deep, tawny, golden-amber colour and whilst citrine can be prone to colour zoning, all of these stones are remarkably even in tone. It is also very clean material, free from visible inclusions. As with most citrine, this material has been heat treated to improve and intensify the colour.
